February 1 marked a very momentous occasion for Filipina beauty junkies everywhere as Sephora unveiled their PH website (formerly Luxola.ph). A collective squeal of glee could be heard all across the country as many of these hardcore beauty lovers rushed to the site to view the brands that Sephora PH would be carrying.

Not one to miss out on all the excitement, I too, joined in on the fun.

Though I personally found the list to not be as extensive as its US counterpart, I was somewhat mollified by the addition of a few brands that I really, truly adore; and some other brands that I’ve heard plenty of good things about, and just dying to finally try out.

CAUDALIE

Hands down, one of the best skincare brands out in the market today.

Having used their products myself, I am in awe by just how effective, utterly luxurious and magical they truly are for the skin. Their Beauty Elixir, is something I would personally swear by. I use this every chance I get, as it truly is a treat for the skin. I spray this on (more like drench myself) before I apply my makeup; after I’ve finished putting on my makeup; when I’m wearing no makeup and I just want to perk my skin up; or even as a toner at night. There’s just so many ways to use this product, and the difference in your skin is positively noticeable. Did I also mention that Caudalie products are free of parabens, and that they are committed to preserving the environment by only using the maximum amount of natural ingredients that is still respectful of Mother Nature?

CONSIDER ME SOLD.

However, it breaks my heart to announce that Sephora PH does not carry the Beauty Elixir — YET. I’m not an official spokesperson for Sephora PH, but I would like to leave that out there, as I truly believe it would be a complete tragedy for Sephora PH not to carry one of Caudalie’s best-selling, iconic products.

I also had the chance to try out Caudalie’s Premier Cru Eye Cream and Elixir. The Premier Cru Eye Cream is perfect for application during the day, as it’s a multitasking product that is anti-aging, hydrating, combats dark circles, wrinkles, puffiness and so much more. Basically, this eye cream has everything including your kitchen sink, garage, entertainment room, jacuzzi and spa on it. You get the drift. It’s everything. Even more impressive though, is the fact that Caudalie added a soft focus powder to the cream so you won’t even have to pack on or even wear any makeup! Can you say, “no makeup” makeup look!?

The Premier Cru Elixir on the other hand, is a product that I usually apply at night, before I go to sleep. With this product, the change in my undereye area overnight is simply incredible. I can honestly say that some of my best skin days have been when I used this product, and I always, ALWAYS forego makeup after having used this as I didn’t want to waste a chance to show off my skin.

One Caudalie product I’m very, very curious to try would be their Vinoperfect Radiance Serum Complexion Correcting. This product came highly recommended by Mathilde Thomas, founder of Caudalie. It’s a product that would brighten, lighten and even out your complexion as one of its main ingredients is vine sap (a unique patent of Caudalie) — an ingredient that is apparently 62x more powerful and effective than Vitamin C when it comes to brightening skin.

All in all, If you’re a serious makeup lover who understands the value of great skin to achieve flawless, beautiful makeup, then do yourself a favor and head on over to Sephora PH to buy some Caudalie goodies.

**UPDATE: As of February 2016, Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir is being sold at Sephora PH.**

FIRST AID BEAUTY

For those of you that religiously follow YouTube beauty vloggers such as Jaclyn Hill, Ingrid Nilsen, Nicole Guerriero and Kathleenlights (to name a few), you’d be ECSTATIC to see First Aid Beauty being sold at Sephora PH.

Although favored by many of our favorite beauty gurus, I’d like to warn all of you to not be fooled by this brand’s name. The name may sound simple and approachable (in other words, affordable), BUT — First Aid Beauty products will actually cost you a pretty penny. So if you’re someone who’s all about having a great base for makeup worthy skin, then I would suggest letting Sephora PH take your money.

One product from First Aid Beauty that’s worth exploring would be their Face Cleanser. It’s a gentle cleanser that removes makeup, dirt, grime and oil, as well as calms redness and maintains the PH balance of your skin. This Face Cleanser is a part of Ingrid Nilsen’s (YouTube beauty vlogger and Project Runway Threads judge) everyday skincare routine.

Another YouTube beauty vlogger who’s been on the First Aid Beauty bandwagon for a quite a while now is Kathleen Fuentes (aka Kathleenlights). If my memory serves me right, one of her favorites from First Aid Beauty is the Eye Duty Triple Remedy, which is an eye treatment with serious, long-term skincare benefits that’s said to brighten, depuff, soothe and minimize the appearance of dark undereye circles.

Other YouTube beauty vloggers such as Nicole Guerriero and Jaclyn Hill (from Becca Champagne Pop collab fame) swear by First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream and Skin Rescue Daily Face Cream, respectively.

Originating from Ontario, Canada, Cover FX’s specialty has been known to be foundations. Makeup artists, beauty gurus, celebrities, and regular women on the street have been heard to swear by it. With over 40 shades available, Cover FX’s color range has accomplished an impressive feat — and that is to provide a precise color match for every ethnicity and undertone imaginable.

Apart from their great color range, Cover FX continues to excite makeup lovers all over the globe by promising us a product that is not only safe for the most sensitive of skin, but also guarantees to improve it the longer you wear it. Cover FX’s confidence in their product stems from their ingredient choices which are packed with vitamins, emollients and redness reducers. In addition to that, Cover FX products are dermatologically tested, vegan, cruelty-free and free of the Inflammatory 5: parabens, fragrance, gluten, mineral oil and talc.

Seriously, I have to catch my breath just reading all of their impressive claims out loud. At the rate Cover FX is going, promising us beautiful makeup with skincare benefits, it comes as no surprise that this has become a top shelf brand for so many beauty enthusiasts.

NUDESTIX

I first learned about Nudestix through Samantha Chapman (anyone who’s ever owned a Real Techniques brush would know her and her sister, Nic) when she did a Natural Glow makeup tutorial inspired by supermodel Gisele Bundchen on her YouTube channel, Pixiwoos (which she also shares with her sister Nic). I remember her using Nudestix’s concealer pencil as both concealer and foundation to recreate that natural, glowing skin that Gisele is super famous for, and I was HOOKED. When that tutorial ended, I was completely amazed by how the concealer pencil glided so smoothly on the skin, blended easily and provided sheer to medium coverage that just enhanced your skin to make it look better in every way possible.

From there, I did some digging of my own to learn more about Nudestix, and I found that the person behind Nudestix was none other than Jenny Frankel — Chemical Engineer, former M.A.C product developer and co-founder of Cover FX. From what I can see, Nudestix’s shtick is all about natural and neutral colors in swipe-and-go stick formats, hence the crayons, pens and pencils. This swipe-and-go concept was born upon Jenny’s observation of her 2 teen daughters (which also happens to be the faces of Nudestix), and realizing that millenials today have a different take on makeup as well as its application. To put it simply, eye popping shades and ninja like makeup tricks are OUT, and simple, laidback, natural looking makeup is IN.

If you’re the kind of girl that doesn’t like to fuss when it comes to makeup, and prefers to let her skin shine through, then Nudestix may be worth a go.

CIATE LONDON

I’m somewhat of a newbie when it comes to Ciaté makeup. Aside from their Precious Metals Eyeshadow (which I ADORE, and Sephora unfortunately doesn’t carry yet), I haven’t really had the chance to have a go at their products. A lot of buzz has certainly been surrounding the brand since their collaboration with the super chic stylista, Olivia Palermo. Though my initial experience with Ciaté was a good one thanks to my Precious Metals Eyeshadow, I have heard some mixed reviews about the Olivia Palermo collection. Others raved about the lipsticks and blushers, while some felt that the eyeshadow palettes were a letdown.

Nevertheless, as a huge Olivia Palermo fan (combined with my initial experience with the brand), I am still very much inclined to try out her collection and form my own opinion.
